If you've been using the "Less Secure" method for authenticating with Gmail, be it via your software, or an older email client, you've probably discovered that it no longer works, as of May 30, 2022.  Google has stated that this feature still remains available for Google Workspaces accounts, but they will be announcing a date when this feature is no longer available.

So, what's the solution?  It's fairly simple!

  1. Login to your Google Mail (or Goole Workspaces Mail) account.
  2. Click your Avatar in the top right corner within the browser.
  3. Choose "Manage Your Google Account"
  4. Go to Security in the left side menu.
  5. Under the "Signing in to Google" section, turn on 2-Step Verification.
  6. When finished, go into the "App Passwords" option in the same section.
